Rudy Needs His Own Bed

In prep for Rudy's arrival, we've been going through our things, doing a late spring cleaning. I came across a teddy bear that my grandma gave me at least 20 years ago. It's in great condition because my mom taught me how to wash him. I wouldn't try this with a the newer teddy bears as they may fall apart.

For old time sake, I decided I wanted to sleep with my teddy. Later when daddy came to bed he grabbed for some sheets and suddenly there was a big black mass that flew across the room and hit the wall. It was teddy! The next morning I woke up and found teddy in a corner on the floor with his head between his legs. My teddy is the size of a one year old child (2 1/4 feet), just lighter.

We've heard about the parents who have their kids sleep in bed with them until age 5 or 7 to build a connection. Truth be told, after what happened to teddy, Rudy won't be sleeping with us any time soon. The crib and toddler bed combo is a must have!

  3. I slept with all of my kids except Carolyn and that's only because she slept better in her own bed than in bed with me. I always slept with them between my side and my arm on the opposite side of me away from my husband. We had a queen bed, even though my husband and I are large people, but I snuggled up as close to him as possible so the baby had plenty of room. The thing about sleeping with a baby is that most of us develop a sixth sense. You can feel where your baby is at all times and he will probably be under the covers with you, so he will most likely not suffer Teddy's fate. I'd also like to point out that a baby is heavier than a stuffed bear and will not fly across the room if Daddy yanks the covers up. He will roll across the bed, bump into you, and you will wake up. We sleep lighter when we have babies in close proximity. I'd also like you to know that breastfeeding is MUCH easier when baby sleeps with you. Just wanted to put in my three cents.
